Poetry & Chick-Fil-A

Last week, The Elephants and The Honeybees were rewarded with Lunch in the Classroom, had a grand time learning about poetry elements as they explored the poems, and went to Chick-Fil-A for the school's fundraiser.

Studnets used their tickets to buy Lunch in the Classroom.

Lyrical Poetry has rhyme, meter, pattern of verse, and repetition!

Lyrical Poem: Supercalifragilistic from Mary Poppins

Lyrical Poem: Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast

Students created Book Talks to share what they learned and why they enjoyed the poems!

They are exploring other types of poetry and creating book talks.
Humorous ~ Poems by Shel Silversteen
Free Verse (poems that do not ryhme) ~ Fairy Tale Poems
Narrative ~ Poems that tell a story

Congrats to our Elephant of Character!!!!!!!

We had a great time at Chick-Fil-A

Halloween, Rewards, & Pride Rally!

What an EXCITING week we have had!
Halloween Activities

Listened to stories in the Library with the lights out

Word Work

Some students brought candy to share!

Ticket Auction
Students work hard every nine weeks to earn tickets!
They can earn these for behavior, participation, good citizenship, and doing a great a job on their work.
At the end of the nine weeks, we have an auction.
Just like in real life, the higher students bid - the more likely they will walk away with a prize.

Prizes

Students prepare their tickets by counting by tens.

Bidding is really exciting!  Everyone has their own number.

Great Job!

Congrats to...

Red Ribbon Week ~ Team Day & Door Decoration and Elephant of Character!

Teaming up against Drugs!!

For our last day of Red Ribbon Week, we celebrated by wearing T-shirts for our favorite teams!  Also, we finished decorating our door! I am so proud of The Elephants' hard work: "Don't be Tricked, Treat Yourself to a Drug-Free Life." They wrote and drew pictures about how and why they will choose a drug free life.

Enjoy the pictures of The Elephants and The Honeybees as they are TEAMING up together against drugs! YAY for being Drug Free For Life.
